Property Description

About 32 station road This unique property was formerly part of Shepley Old Hall - we understand that it was believed to have been a visitor or servant's cottage to the main house. The original property is understood to date back to 1609 and is Grade II listed, we understand that some alterations were made circa the 19th century. The house is of traditional stone construction under a high pitched slate roof and mullioned windows.

The property was purchased by our client circa 1987 and following that a comprehensive scheme of sensitive and tasteful renovation was carried out. Great care was taken to preserve and repair the lounge ceiling which features roses, fleur-de-lys and the date of 1609. At the same time original beams and mullions were exposed to great effect.

The property is entered through a wooden entrance door into an entrance lobby created from bespoke wooden and glazed partition within the lounge. There is also a dining kitchen on the ground floor which features stairs leading to both the cellar and the first floor. On the first floor there is a landing, 2 double bedrooms, a single bedroom and bathroom.

It has the benefit of a gas central heating system, sealed unit double glazing, a full alarm system and attractive fixtures and fittings although some modernisation will be required to the buyers own tastes.

Externally there is a driveway leading to the side of the property with generous gardens to the front and side. Also attached to one side of the building there is a more recent single storey stone built outbuilding. A planning application has recently been approved to allow for the outbuilding to be converted into living accommodation and a double garage and utility room attached to the other side.

Shepley is a consistently sought after village location surrounded by picturesque countryside and favoured by families for its schools; commuters for the railway station and downsizers for the many village amenities. We therefore expect interest to be strong in this most unique home – early viewing is recommended.
