Opening the front door off a raised footpath from the street, we immediately overcome the principal problem with homes of this type. Stepping not, as normal, straight into the living room but into a separate hallway we insulate ourselves from the road. Towards the bottom of the stairs we find an obliquely angled door letting us into the large dining room. This is another pleasant surprise, in that rooms of this size are rare in homes like this, well able to accommodate a full six seat dining table and various other sizeable pieces of furniture.
Turning to the right and through an archway puts us in the lounge with its front facing window. This again, is generously sized, swallowing a substantial three piece suite with ease. It is a warm and cosy room, complimented by the living flame effect gas fire, which provides a focal point even if the gas central heating renders any serious use unnecessary.
To the rear of the dining room, another doorway leads us through into the kitchen. This is a delight, with a pale ceramic tiled floor and a ‘U’ shaped formation of units and worktops with the cooker at the far end beneath a huge oak mantelpiece. All the bells and whistles are here, washing machine, fridge, freezer and are included in the sale. The ceiling is adorned with false beams and, false they may be but they give a real atmosphere. The Gas combi boiler also sits neatly on the back wall, easily accessible for maintenance, which it’s had plenty of.
Step through the back door and the surprises keep coming. Did anyone notice a police telephone box in the road as we arrived? This room is well laid out, offering a truly vast airing cupboard that could store enough linen for a small hotel, I was waiting for Dr Who to jump out at one point! A ceramic tiled floor and a modern contemporary suite of basin, lavatory and bath complimented by a corner mounted walk in shower powered off the mains via the combi boiler, so you get the best of both worlds in this home…..Truly spoilt!
Adjacent to here is the rear bedroom. Contrary to expectations this again is huge, accommodating a double bed, full size free standing wardrobe, chest of drawers and still leaving enough floor space for a reasonable electric train set. Unless of course you’ve outgrown such things….
Towards the front of the home is the other bedroom, equally large and equally comfortable. The landing between the two bedrooms contains two full sized doors giving access to walk in cupboards, both offering hanging space for any clothes overspill.
Now we come to the last big surprise. Up another staircase we find a fully finished attic room. It has a large velux window flooding it with light and could be put to any one of a number of uses; it’s up to you. Office, play room, music room anything you fancy.
