Gorse House is an attractive detached house dating from 1911, set in a peaceful residential location on the edge of the renowned Cotswold town of Bourton-on-the-Water. The property has light and airy accommodation, finished to a high standard, while the village is known as one of the Cotswold’s prettiest, with the River Windrush the focal point.
On the ground floor there is a spacious sitting room, with a double aspect, including a large bay window, and an attractive fireplace. There is a study and a dining room, while the kitchen and breakfast room is extensively fitted with wooden units and Duroplan worktops, an island, an integrated oven and hob, and space for a breakfast table.
On the first floor there are four bedrooms, three of which are doubles. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and access to a large eaves storage space, while one of the additional bedrooms has two large eaves storage areas, and the remaining two have fitted wardrobes. There is also a family shower room.
This property was selected for inclusion in a soon to be televised episode of "A Place in the Sun - Home or Away" and, we understand, was the clear favourite of the three Cotswold properties included in the "Home" (UK) section of the programme.
Gorse House is located in a private close off the Rissington Road. Bourton-on-the-Water is celebrated as one of the most attractive villages in the Cotswolds, and lies in the charming Windrush Valley, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village offers a wide range of everyday shopping facilities, a monthly farmers’ market and a number of popular pubs and restaurants. More extensive facilities can be found nearby in Cheltenham and Cirencester. Communications in the area are good. The A429 (Fosse Way) provides links to the A40 and M40 as well as the M5 at Cheltenham. There are regular train services to London Paddington from Kingham Station (7.5 miles). Education in the area is excellent with well-reputed primary and secondary schools both state and private.
At the front of the property there is a gravel driveway leading to a block-paved area fronting a double garage, with ample parking on the driveway. There is a front garden with a well-maintained lawn, flowerbeds and mature trees, and a pathway leading to the front of the house, which has a veranda. To the rear there is a further lawned garden, with a garden room opening out onto a patio area. The garden room is attached to the garage.
