Description Of Property

Rangemore Hall was built in the late 1850s for Michael Thomas Bass of Bass brewing fame. It is an impressive country house located in extraordinary parkland and surrounded by stunning Staffordshire countryside.

The Hall has an early 19th century core and the first Lord Burton inherited this outstanding property and started major works on it in 1898, significantly extending the house in a signature Italianate style.

A brand-new wing was built on orders by Lord Burton for the visit in 1902 of King Edward VII to Rangemore Hall on his first public visit to Burton upon Trent. The south wing is therefore now called The Edward VII Wing.

When Baroness Bass sold the property to the Staffordshire County Council in the early 20th century, it served multiple purposes, for example as accommodation for American GIs in wwii and as a school for deaf children.

The Coach House is located at the head of a private road adjacent to the Hall being accessed from a lengthy driveway through the private parkland.

An imposing front entrance door leads into the reception hallway on the ground-floor level giving access to the spacious open plan first-floor living accommodation. A useful storage cupboard is located below the winding staircase.

From the staircase a half turn landing opens up into the spacious open plan flagstone tiled drawing room/sitting room and dining area. A beautiful slate fire surround (created from original slate taken from Rangemore Hall scullery) houses a log burner with exposed brick decor. Large sash picture windows provide views of the impressive gardens and grounds beyond to the front and Georgian windows are to the rear.

A large island in the centre of the kitchen area complete with Hot Tap provides additional work and storage space as well as serving as a breakfast bar.

Leading off from the open plan living accommodation is the bedroom quarter. A small hallway with useful storage cupboard provides access into the light and spacious bedroom enjoying incredible views of the rear garden and bathroom featuring a large bath, wash hand basin and WC with tiled floor and wall tiles.

The main staircase continues to the second floor. An open plan mezzanine with stylish glass balustrade provides a wonderful space to use as you wish, for the current owner a sitting room and study. However, the space could easily be partitioned to provide additional bedrooms.
