Mulberry House is a unique home; carefully designed and created to maximise the semi-rural position whilst at the same time delivering a substantial family home geared towards open plan family living, large entertaining spaces and really bringing “the outside in”.
Built around an existing family house, the current owners comprehensively transformed Mulberry House in 2011 – extending the house outwards and upwards to create a dream family home. From entering via the gated drive, the rural views are superb, and flanking the tarmac driveway is a timber-built children’s play area. Whilst children are lost to fun and games in the garden, the adults enter via a striking full height Atrium style entrance hall, flooded with natural light from double height vertical windows.
From the entrance hall there is direct access into the stunning open plan family kitchen, stretching out into the dining area and family room. Again, this room is flooded with natural light, with a dual aspect dominated by panoramic bi-folding doors opening into the generous rear garden. Designed for a chef who likes to entertain, the kitchen delivers an expanse of quartz granite worktops and an oversize central island and breakfast bar. There is space for a chef’s range cooker as well as an integrated smeg coffee machine and microwave. Views from the kitchen stretch down to Bath, and the 37’ of floor space opens up to provide sociable family dining and living areas.
Opposite the family room are two further reception rooms, providing flexible space such as a children’s play room, snug or cinema room. To the end of the inner hall is a useful study, as well as a utility room with separate access to the front. In addition, there is a downstairs shower room – perfect after a long walk, run or cycle ride.
Upstairs, via the dramatic galleried staircase are five double bedrooms arranged over the first floor; two of which have an en-suite shower room with the remaining bedrooms sharing a well-appointed family bathroom. There is a useful separate laundry room too, with space and plumbing for both a washing machine and dryer.
Upstairs, the master bedroom takes up the entire second floor; an exquisite bedroom suite with a landing, a luxury 26’ walk-in wardrobe and a generous en-suite bath and shower room, complete with a floor to ceiling Velux window that transforms into a balconette to take in the morning views.
Outside
The gardens at Mulberry House are private and fully enclosed, with a gated drive providing parking for numerous cars, in addition to the detached single garage. The main lawn lies to the rear and faces south-west, overlooking open fields and grazing cattle with distant views across to Lansdown and Bath. A raised deck provides a useful outdoor bbq and dining terrace (come sunbathing platform) flanked by raised vegetable and fruit beds.
The outside of the house is flanked by mature borders planted with lavender, herbs and shrubs providing a delight of colour and scent.
To the side is a further area of lawn overlooking open fields, and to the front a wonderful fully fitted timber-built multi-function children’s play area, complete with artificial grass flooring.
