Seller insight:
This lovely home enjoys a superb position on a quiet residential road on the edge of the market town of Hinkley. “My father actually built the very first house on Hill Rise back in 1964, and my wife and I lived in a property just a few doors down from this one some forty-seven years ago, so it’s a place that’s always been a big part of our lives and a place that we’re extremely fond of, ” says Frank. “We stayed in that house for around ten years and then relocated to Nottingham, but when we decided to move back to this neck of the woods we could think of no other place that we’d rather live.”
“This particular house was built around fifty years ago and it’s a large and very attractive family home with well-proportioned living space and four good-size bedrooms. The previous owners had done an awful lot of work to it so it was in excellent condition when we came here, but over time we too have made a couple of changes, just to enhance it further. We added a front extension, which gave us not only a new porch, but it also increased the size of the study/4th bedroom and enabled us to add a lovely en suite. But apart from that we’ve not needed to make any major alterations because the house as a whole is very spacious and the layout flows nicely so it’s a very comfortable house to live in.”
“The house is lovely and it benefits from having really attractive gardens both front and back, ” continues Frank. “We had a new block-paved driveway laid to the front and that’s edged with two good-size lawns, and to the back we have a large patio, two further areas of lawn and right at the very end we have a lovely little summerhouse, which my wife uses as an art studio and I use as another quiet place to put my feet up. The whole garden is edged with mature evergreen plants so not only is the outlook really pleasant, but we enjoy a superb degree of privacy.”
“The room that we tend to spend a lot of our time in is the large conservatory, which flows out from both the lounge and our huge reception hall – so you catch sight of the garden the minute you walk through the front door, ” says Frank. “It has underfloor heating so it’s warm and inviting and can be used all year round, and it allows us to enjoy the garden no matter what the weather.”
“What we love about the area is the fact that it enables us to enjoy the best of everything, ” says Frank. “The local shops, supermarkets, the doctor’s surgery, the theatre… they’re all in close proximity. And we also have Burbage Wood and mile upon mile of really stunning open countryside practically on the doorstep. What more could you want?”
“This is a wonderful place to raise a family, not least because the schools in the local area are so very good, ” says Frank. “Our sons attended primary, junior and senior schools that were all located within a mile of Hill Rise, and they’ve both gone on to be very successful.”
“We’ve decided that it’s time to downsize one last time, but we won’t be going far, we’re actually buying another property on Hill Rise, ” says Frank. “So in terms of what we’ll miss, i’d say it will probably be the space, particularly out in the garden, and i’m also going to miss being able to take myself off to our lovely summerhouse for a spot of R&R.”
