Situated near the entrance to The Park this lovely home welcomes you in like an old friend. Ideally placed allowing the town centre to be an easy stroll but still it offers a haven away from the daily rush. It could ideally benefit from a kitchen and bathroom up-grade, but this is only my opinion. Everything presently here is completely functional and in good order so, if it fits your taste any further alterations would be unnecessary. It offers the benefits of a detached garage, alongside which a truly delightful garden will tempt the horticulturalists among you while providing a peaceful setting for relaxation for everyone else.
Beside the large bay window overlooking the front garden a broad covered porch offers protection for the front door. The modern semi glazed UPVC front door opens into an uncommonly wide hall, with a cupboard beside the front door containing the electric meters and the mains gas inlet. To our immediate left is another door leading into the spacious lounge/dining room.
This room is a delight. Lit from three sides, the large bay to the front, a smaller side window and finally a set of sliding patio doors allowing access into the rear garden, it is, as you would expect a very bright and airy space. There is a sizeable patio area before a low stone wall which borders the lawn and this provides a very pleasant venue for a relaxing drink at the end of the day, a real ‘Sundowner’ in fact. Back inside, a long stone hearth plays host to an ornate traditional gas fire, in turn playing a subordinate role to the also gas powered central heating. In the inner wall beside the patio window, we find a real throwback to the 70s, small doors set in the wall revealing a serving hatch through into the adjacent kitchen. Why these ever fell from fashion I will never know, as they are simply so practical but nowadays, so rare.
The next door off the hall reveals the ubiquitous cupboard for the general ‘stuff’ we all accumulate and also housing the regularly serviced Worcester Bosch Gas combi boiler. From here another door takes us into the kitchen and here, the 70s theme is revived. From the multi-coloured vinyl tiled floor to the wooden units and fitted cupboards it reminds me of one of the sets from ‘Terry & June’ but it surely cannot be that old as it is in immaculate condition. And as I said earlier, if condition is more important to you than fashion, you could move in tomorrow. Another semi glazed door leads from here into the utility room, housing the automatic washing machine and large fridge/freezer along with various other storage cupboards. There is also a back door giving access to the garden.
Returning to the hall once more, the next door along reveals another feature that has largely fallen from favour with today’s builders; a separate lavatory, which allows peaceful Sunday morning sojourns with the papers to pass free from interruption.
The adjacent bathroom also faces the rear of the home and comprises simply of a bath and pedestal hand basin. Again, these fixtures are of their time and may benefit from changing, if only because they are green. Nothing wrong with green per-se, but today it is considered something of a style statement. The thing to bear in mind with what may sound a critical description, is that everything in this home is in the same condition as when it was delivered from the shop and, for someone looking for a simple and trouble free move, colour isn’t everything….
Opposite here, overlooking the front of the home, is the smallest bedroom. This, in common with so many third bedrooms is very much a single room but, it must be said, a luxurious one with ample room for all the free standing furniture needed to ensure comfort.
Also facing the front, is the second bedroom and this is a very different kettle of fish. With two windows overlooking the road, this large double room is made to seem all the larger by the inclusion of a full wall of fitted wardrobes, providing more space than could ever be strictly necessary.
And finally, we come to the master bedroom. This is the size that a master bedroom deserves to be, easily accommodating a king sized bed and various pieces of standing furniture without feeling overpowered and providing peace and serenity topped off with views over the lovely rear garden…..Just perfect.!
