Property Description

The property

To use a cliché that is widely used within estate agency, this property really does require an internal inspection to be fully appreciated. It’s so apt, as this house is so large compared to what viewers will imagine when standing at the entrance. Before viewing, please see the floorplan to help understand the space this house has to offer.

Located on High Street, which is the main road through the centre of Chasetown, this property comes without any parking. Therefore car owners will need to source parking via a nearby street. Those without a car will appreciate the bus links, as described below in the ‘Transport Links’ section. The property is an excellent buy to let investment as the property has been rented out for many years.

Upon entering the home, viewers step up to the entrance hallway with plenty of space to remove coats and shoes. The flooring is hard-wearing, with the original quarry tiles running throughout the entire ground floor. To the right of the entrance is the first reception room which we have named the dining room, as it is an excellent size (similar to that of a double bedroom) that would be perfect for a large dining room table. To the front is a bay window to allow plenty of natural light.

Back to the entrance hallway and there is a second door into the inner hallway from which there are doors through to the lounge and the cellar. The cellar is a very useful storage room with a decent head height and mains lighting. The lounge is a superb room which includes an open fireplace and enough space for a large sofa suite and coffee table in the centre. The lounge feels like the main hub of the home as from here there are doorways leading to the kitchen, lean-to and the staircase to the first floor.

The kitchen has stylish hi-gloss storage units with roll top work surfaces to both side walls, leaving a large area in the centre of the room to manoeuvre. Natural light is provided from a window in front of the sink and drainer that faces the lean-to rear hallway. There is plenty of room under the work surfaces to the left of the kitchen for a fridge and freezer or, alternatively, this could be used as a breakfast bar. A further door from the kitchen provides access to the family bathroom which is a generous space and includes a traditional style free-standing bathtub along with a toilet and wash basin. Should the new owner desire, there is plenty of room for a shower cubicle or much larger bath to be installed.

The ground floor is still not finished! As mentioned above, from the lounge there is a lean to rear hallway that runs alongside the kitchen and has an exit door to the garden. The lean-to has all the feel of a utility room but without the water supply and therefore is best utilised as an extra storage space, especially with a work surface fitted to the wall. There is a utility room but this is only accessible by exiting to the rear garden where it is located behind the kitchen. In the utility there is another work surface with plumbing and space underneath for a washing machine.

Moving upstairs to the first floor, the landing is split into two corridors to allow for access to all bedrooms aswell as the loft room. The bedrooms are all of a generous size, with the smallest (bedroom three) being a large single or small double depending on how much space you prefer away from your bed. Bedroom two is definitely a double bedroom that follows the footprint of the kitchen directly below. The master bedroom at the front of the home is a sensational double bedroom that spans the full width of the home and includes two large windows to provide natural light. The floor space is so impressive that you could have a king size bed and two double wardrobes yet still have an abundance of room space available for more furniture.

The loft room is accessed via a pull down ladder and therefore cannot be considered to be a fourth bedroom. The space in the loft is excellent and has been converted to be a superb storage room with a dormer window and fully boarded floor. There is a storage cupboard within the loft aswell as eaves access to both the front and rear of the room.

Finally, the property comes with a private rear garden. This large outdoor space is set across two levels that are relatively low maintenance. It begins from the lean-to with a block paved patio before steps lead up to the main garden area. This area is mainly gravel but would suit a lawn, be it turf or artificial depending on budget. The garden is kept private by a combination of brick and breeze block walls, as well as wooden fencing. Finally, being a mid-terraced property, there is a gate to the right hand side to access the right of way through next door’s garden.

Transport links

As mentioned above, High Street is the centre of Chasetown and therefore is an excellent location for bus stops. From here the new owners can catch a bus to Cannock, Lichfield and Walsall, aswell as the centre of Burntwood at Sankeys Corner.

The High Street in Chasetown is less than a 5 minute drive from the A5 between Muckley Corner near Lichfield and the Newtown crossroads near Brownhills. There are many suburban shortcuts which lead to other major routes away from Burntwood such as the A5190 to Lichfield and Cannock and the M6 Toll road for Stafford and Birmingham (M42).

For trains, a 20-25 minute drive (naturally longer by bus) to Lichfield provides two main train station in Lichfield City and Lichfield Trent Valley train station, with the latter offering fabulous commuting links due to its split level platform for the West Coast Mainline and the Cross City Line. This means there are regular services to Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and Redditch as well as national routes to London, Liverpool, Manchester and even the occasional Glasgow service. Train services to Birmingham are also available from Walsall and Cannock via the Chase Line.

Schools & amenities

According to the Staffordshire Schools website, the catchment schools for this home are the secondary school, Erasmus Darwin (0.3 miles away) and Ridgeway Primary School (0.4 miles). Parents will be delighted to learn that both schools hold a Good (2) Ofsted rating. We do always recommend that buyers check with the local authority first, before confirming catchment.

Being on the High Street has it’s perks as there is a plethora of independent shops and businesses along the same stretch as the house, with more found along nearby Queen Street. By walking up High Street toward the Burntwood end, the new owner will find Burtwood Leisure Centre aswell as famous supermarkets and a well-known fast food restaurant. Chasetown is also home to the local police station and Chasetown fc, who famously reached the 3rd round of the fa Cup in 2008.
