Help to Buy is the new equity loan scheme from the Government. You can now own 100% of your home and only pay as little as 80% of the purchase price. It also allows you to secure your new home with a minimal amount of money, just 5% of the full purchase price.
How it works
Help To Buy equity loans are available to both first time buyers and home movers. Solely for the purchase of new build homes, you can spend as much as £600,000 and still qualify for the loan.
You will need to contribute as least 5% of the property price as a deposit, the government will give you a loan for up to 20% and you get a mortgage for 75%. The reasoning behind this is that you will now qualify for fantastic mortgage rates by only asking for a 75% mortgage. The Equity loan is free for the first 5 years after this time you will start to pay a small amount of interest each month (1.75% above The Bank of England’s Base Rate).
