The Village
There are lots of beautiful landmarks that add to the charm of this picturesque village such as the traditional metal street signs, and the vintage red phone box situated outside the Hare and Hounds Pub. Inside of the phone box is a community notice board filled with social event information of the village and there are a range of books left in there for visitor's perusal.
There is a War Memorial near the site, which was constructed in 1921 to commemorate the servicemen from the village who died in the First World War. The memorial stands in a small grassed area enclosed by a hedge. To the left of the war memorial is a wooden frame displaying the collection of Best Kept Village Award plaques dating from 1979.
At the heart of the Village stands The Hare and Hounds Pub which underwent refurbishment in 2016. This is just a 3 minute walk from the development site. This pub has a great community feel with all customers (and their dogs) on first name terms with the staff who offer a friendly and personal service. They serve a fantastic selection of beers and home-made food and there is a lovely big room at the back should you prefer some privacy or a romantic meal for two. If you happen to love birds there is The Vale Royal Falconry Centre in Acton Bridge (2.5 miles). This is a family run educational centre where you and your family can interact with a range of birds of prey and owls.
There are some gentle giants and other friendly farm fiends at the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre (5.8 miles). Here you can interact with all kinds of animals from horses, ponies and even piglets but this also offers a great place to enjoy a picnic and get some fresh air.
If you'd like to enjoy nature in a more natural setting there is the Sandstone Trail (4.3 miles)This trail stretches for 34 miles (55km) across the country of Cheshire. People walk, run or even ride the trail from North to South with the sun on their face and some great views of Beeston Castle. With a number of sculptures along the trails and plenty of wildlife to see this offers a great day out for the whole family.
For a day out with a bit more history and culture you can visit the Norton Priory Museum and Gardens (6.1 miles) where you can explore the Walled Garden and step back in time by dressing up and learning all about the hundreds of medieval objects they have there, some dating back 900 years.
Other great nearby attractions include places such as several play parks, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (15 miles) and even the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm (12.3 miles).
