the 16th and early 17th centuries. The house
is linked to the old Abbey and its church with
ruins discovered in the garden. Built of local
Greenstone under a slate roof, the house

with later alterations. The current owners
have carried out extensive and painstaking

The beautiful Blackmore Vale countryside

Nearby Gillingham and Tisbury have mainline
railway stations with direct trains to London
Waterloo. Communications by road are excellent
with the A303 providing a link to the M3, M25
and London, or the West Country.

The local area is renowned for its schools, both
private and state. Within Shaftesbury there are
two excellent primary schools and a secondary
school. Private schools in the area include
St. Marys Shaftesbury, Clayesmore, Bryanston,
Milton Abbey and Sherborne School.
Prep schools include Sandroyd, Port Regis
and Hazelgrove.

Double wrought iron gates open onto a
gravelled drive, leading up to the rear of the
