Cranleigh is five miles to the south with its bustling High Street, sports centre and thriving sports clubs.
The Property
Wistaria Cottage is a charming detached village house of great character and with a fascinating history. Dating back to the early 1700's, it was originally built as two cottages and converted into one in the early nineteenth century. The drawing room was used as a village meeting room and polling station. Apparently a prominent family of nurserymen lived in the house from the 1850's until some time after the First World War and it is rumoured that the bell was installed to ring the workers in from the fields. Wistaria Cottage has now been extended and modernised throughout whilst retaining its charm and character with well proportioned rooms and lovely views over the fields. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. The ground floor is very spacious with a stunning vaulted drawing room, a charming dining room and a study. There is also a useful central hall area which opens to a sitting/snug area. The kitchen/breakfast room and utility room are at the rear of the house with glazed doors to the garden and pool areas. To the north there is an old bothy which provides useful extra space and a studio area above. There is also an old barn with old stable partition, which leads to the garage. There is a large parking courtyard, front and rear gardens and the pool is situated at the rear with seating and entertaining areas overlooking the fields. In all approximately 0.3 acres.
