Oaklands, st johns lane, bewdley, worcestershire DY12 2QY price guide: £699,999
general information and approach Hayden Estates are absolutely elated, to be able to bring to the market, one very special family home. Ten years ago, they were given the opportunity to sell this house, then it was special, now it is a class above!
Fed up with the rat race, the hustle and bustle of daily grind? Crave the idyllic countryside, yet do not want to add miles and miles onto that commuting journey ? Worried that the children will want you taxiing them around? This location is no more than a couple of miles from Bewdley, with all the amenities on offer there including schools. Want that good life, where you can have the vegetable plot, the chickens, a couple of dogs roaming free and the children safe to explore the tranquil forest, learning so much about the flora and fauna. It's here, this tranquil slice of heaven and it can be your next home....
Whilst not confirmed, Oaklands was believed built in around 1890 by a Clara Bell. The Bell family it is understood came from Bewdley. Even the track down to the house was known as Bell Lane! The house would have been a lot smaller then, was to be used for the workers of the forest, therefore known as a forestry house.
In more recent times, its claim to fame is that it was once owned by Rusty Lee, the larger than life television chef with the infectious laugh!
Oaklands is situated at the end of an unadopted track which meanders down, passing grazed fields and woodland. You would be forgiven in thinking the agent is trying to get you lost. Not so! Slowly with the parting of the forest canopy, Oaklands comes into view and you begin to see your first glimpse of all that is on offer. An impatience now to see more!
Unless you have been before, the seclusion is superb, one would never find it. And that's what drew the present owners here. That feeling of peace and tranquillity, the slow pace of life after a stressful day at work. The children being able to play without irritation to the neighbours and quite safe and sound within this wonderful setting.
Yes, this is a real family home, not a show home, but a comfortable one, where you can be yourself. Curl up on the settee in front of the log burner on a frosty winters evening, or watch the deer gingerly approach at dusk. Enjoy the changing seasons. All this, yet only five minutes from the town centre of Bewdley. Pure magic!
You really cannot fail to be impressed. Go on, allow yourself the privilege of exploring, it will be well worth it. Honest! Just allow ample time to indulge! As we found out, you'll not want to leave and the grounds are extensive to investigate.
Oaklands is a unique detached four bedroom residence with the Wyre Forest embracing all sides. A perfect name for a house surrounded by oak trees. An enviable position. South facing formal gardens with large patio, wildlife pool, decking to two sides, sheds, greenhouse, garden home office with power and lighting, large man cave, (Wooden workshop with power!), well stocked mature beds, hard standing for triple garaging or open oak framed carport perhaps. Three further acres of natural woodland, covered under sssi. A magnificent haven for wildlife. Indeed the deer were spotted as the details were being taken!
Extended some years ago, there is scope to extend again subject of course to the usual planning and building consents. The current occupants converted the double garaging into living accommodation. (Building regulation approval gained)
The single storey building has a pitched tiled roof, has been completed to current building regulations. Normally one would suggest this wouldn't be a good idea, however this has certainly enhanced the house and there not a negative in sight!
The plot extends to over three acres in all. Within the land is a well. Continuing with the theme of water, there is a seasonal stream which meanders through the territory. The children will enjoy making dams, paddling and fishing with their nets. What a perfect way to keep them outside and off the television and computer games!
