On a quiet residential street within close proximity to Peckham Rye Park’s 113 acres, plus handy shops on Forest Hill Road, find this double-fronted Victorian house with smart modern interior and a wide private garden. The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one is an en suite to the master), plus a downstairs w.C., a large double-reception opening onto the garden, and a kitchen/diner, too. The property is double-glazed throughout. Freehold.
A white picket fence fronts the house and frames the front garden. Parking is unrestricted, on the street. In the front door and you open into the hall and the kitchen/diner lies off to your right and stretches over 20 feet. It’s double-aspect (front and rear) so gets loads of light, and a modern fitted kitchen is great in white, with contrasting solid wood counters. A back door leads out from here to the garden that’s low-maintenance in design with both paved and lawned areas. A neat w.C. Sits next to the back door (internal) which is a welcome touch for family life or for entertaining guests. To the left of the hall is the large through-reception room of nearly 23 feet by over 12, with handsome square bay to the front. The decor is neutral in here, as throughout the house.
Upstairs and the master bedroom takes the leading role and the width of the house. It’s over 15 feet by over 10, with smart en suite bathroom with over-bath shower. The landing is lit by a skylight window which is a welcome feature. Set to the rear of the house are two further bedrooms, while a main bathroom completes the tour.
Choose from three in-walking-distance stations: Honor Oak Park (fare zone 3), East Dulwich and Peckham Rye (both 2). Day and night bus routes are also close, from Peckham Rye. Local green spaces (aside from Peckham Rye) include Horniman Gardens, Goose Green and One Tree Hill.
Our favourite nearby cafes are Cafe G on the corner of The Gardens, and (architect-designed, no less) Cafe On The Rye. There’s a bank of handy shops on Forest Hill Road including a Post Office. You can also enjoy those on Lordship and Rye Lanes, as well as those of Honor Oak and Nunhead centres. North Cross Road’s Saturday market is also local.
Local cinemas are East Dulwich Picturehouse and Peckham Plex (rooftop films also available atop The Bussey Building in the warm months). Watson’s General Telegraph and The Herne Tavern are your closest public houses, in handsome Victorian buildings and with big outside areas. Peckham is ablaze with exciting gastronomic destinations. East Dulwich leisure centre is a short stroll away, or you can ‘sign up’ for British Military Fitness workouts on Peckham Rye.
Local schools are well-regarded and include Goodrich, Heber, Fairlawn, Horniman and St Anthony’s (Catholic) primaries.
