Set within an attractive Victorian red brick building, this two bedroom, first floor flat in NW3 is wonderfully positioned on a corner plot. Inside is just as pleasing; nothing is overdone, just simply and elegantly pulled together with soft tones that create a calm and peaceful home.
And what a setting it is – there are obvious reasons why Platt’s Lane is considered such an enviable spot, with the Heath just moments away. Set neatly between Hampstead and West Hampstead, both high streets are within reach on foot, while central parts of London are also a cinch to get to from their respective stations.
It’s not your usual layout, but it really works. The split-level design means the space feels very private – bedrooms are zoned separately from the more sociable living areas. And still every room feels spacious and airy due to the tall windows, which bring in an abundance of natural light.
It’s worth mentioning the reception room: Neutral décor, soft carpets, a quaint tiled fireplace and pretty outlook to the outside world all come together to make a graceful and instantly inviting room.
But what we love most is the sleek and modern kitchen-diner – an unexpected twist to an otherwise traditionally styled flat. It contains a smart architectural staircase leading into the living room with wire detailing that is both practical for safety’s sake, as well as being an interesting focal point. It’s a lovely feature without feeling intrusive or heavy.
We absolutely love NW3 and Hampstead. It has a reputation for being a scenic and beautiful part of London, but more importantly for us has been the community and lesser-known qualities that you only appreciate once you find yourself a 'local'.
We love getting lost in Hampstead Heath, and will dearly miss the hidden gem of Golders Hill Park with its menagerie of animals and the Hill Garden and Pergola. It’s especially great being a short walk to the eateries of West Hampstead, the quiet pubs and cafes of Hampstead Village, and getting a sneaky crêpe when the queues are short, too.

The current owners have respectfully updated the property keeping all the inherited period features, yet they have also introduced in modern touches where it’s most practical: In the kitchen and bathroom.
It doesn’t matter where in London you need to get to, as there are excellent transport links, either via a quick bus journey or longer walk. These include West Hampstead Overground, Underground and Thameslink stations (Gospel Oak to Barking, Jubilee and Thameslink lines, respectively) and Hampstead Underground (Northern line).
