Weclome to this unique opportunity to acquire a historical Grade II Listed church, in the historic village of Wanlockhead.

Offering an abundance of charm and character with many of the original features still in place including the magnificent stain glass window. The church dates back to 1848.

This unique building has already got all planning permission, listed building consent, and a full building warrant in place giving the new perspective owners the freedom to make a start on the project as soon as they own it.

The church has full planning permission to be converted into a 5 bedroom stunning home.

The Architects designs will create 5 double bedrooms 3 of which will have en-suite bathrooms, impressive open plan kitchen/dining, large utility room, a large lounge, and plenty more as you can see from the pictures of the plans.

Outside the property has a section of land to the right which would lend itself to provide a garden area and off road parking.

At the moment whilst the renovations take place it has a 2 bedroom 35x12ft fully functional static caravan, with mains water, mains sewage, a multi fuel stove, double glazing and to the rear of the caravan there is a separate utility area.

The church has already had some works carried out including mains water and sewer connection passed off by Scottish water, the internal drainage, a fully insulated internal concrete slab to the structural specification, all of which have been passed off by the Dumfries and Galloway building inspector.

You can book your viewing 24/7 by opening the brochure or calling Purplebricks.

Location

The village of Wanlockhead is known for its scenic walking and is located on the route of the Southern Upland Way offering numerous walks capturing the beauty of the surrounding countryside. It also is very popular for Mountain biking and gold panning, it also has its very own ski and snow boarding club with a 600 metre – long intermediate ski tow. The area was once a prosperous centre of the Lead mining industry and the museum of lead mining based in the village attract many thousands of visitors each year. There is a primary school located approximately one mile away in the neighbouring village of Leadhills, primary and secondary schools are located in Sanquhar and Biggar some eight miles distant. Sanquhar has a variety of shops from local specialist shops to some smaller branches of grocery chains, as well as a swimming pool, equestrian facilities and a bowling club. There is a train service to Dumfries and the South as well as to Ayrshire. Several bus services are available here too. Leadhills, Scotland's second highest village (after nearby Wanlockhead) is reached via the B7040 from Elvanfoot or the B797 from Abington. The village itself has the required facilities you would expect from a small village. Leadhills may not quite be Scotland's highest village, but it does have a number of unique claims to fame. Leadhills is also home to the country's highest adhesion (i.E. Normally driven) railway. This is a 2ft narrow gauge railway built along part of the track bed of the branch line from Elvanfoot to Wanlockhead that operated from 1901 to 1939. A visit to Leadhills Station is a fascinating experience, with a range of ex-industrial engines on view in its high moorland setting. It also boasts Scotland's highest golf course at 456m or 1500ft above sea level. This nine hole course is described as not for the faint hearted and lies just to the east of the village. All in all an ideal location for the commuter to either Edinburgh or Glasgow, indeed also ideally situa
