Eastham is a pretty village on the Wirral Peninsula, conveniently located for Cheshire Oaks, Ness Botanical Gardens, Brimstage Maze and the Blue Planet Aquarium.
Things to do: Eastham Country Park is situated on the Wirral bank of the River Mersey and provides superb views across the estuary with its abundant birdlife.
The 100 acres of broadleaf woodland offers opportunities for peaceful walks, birdwatching and orienteering. A network of surfaced paths provide access throughout the woodland.
The park has a visitor information centre, picnic areas provided on the open grassland close to the river and in the Tea Garden which serves refreshments and snacks during spring and summer.
A wide range of events take place in Wirral, from spectacular firework displays on the River Mersey to major sporting events under the gaze of the world's media. Wirral has played host to some of the greatest events of recent times, including the Beatles' largest ever attendance at a UK concert, The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake in 2014, and the celebration of Cunard's 175th Anniversary in 2015 with the visit of the 'Three Queens' on the River Mersey.
The strong annual calendar of events showcases the local region, with food and drink often taking centre stage thanks to some amazing markets, festivals and shows. Arts and culture is also high on the list with exhibitions regularly held at museums and galleries.
The first Wirral Festival of Firsts was held in the town of Hoylake in 2011 and has been a popular annual festival ever since, now taking place across Wirral. It includes everything from live music to storytelling, and often sees some big names visit Wirral to tell their stories.
Key golf events and festivals are played at some of the superb golf courses in Wirral and some incredible celebrations and get-togethers for Easter, Summer, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas.
