The village was 'discovered' by William Morris who described it 'the most beautiful village in England'. He subsequently became a fervent advocate of the area.

The village itself offers a post office, village store, a hotel and pub and the nearby towns of Burford and Northleach provide shopping facilities for day-to-day needs. The nearest larger centre is the market town of Cirencester (about 7 miles) and which provides more extensive facilities including a Waitrose and Tesco as well as an excellent range of independent traders and bistros.

The larger centres of Cheltenham and Oxford are also within easy reach with the A40 being about 9 miles to the East whilst Swindon (c. 15 miles) provides access to both the M4 at Junction15 and mainline rail services to London-Paddington in about 55 minutes.

In addition to the beauty of the village itself Bibury is also surrounded by some of the most attractive Cotswold countryside. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the surrounding area offers an abundance of walks allowing the charm and tranquillity of the Cotswold countryside to be enjoyed.

Bibury is also ideally placed for sporting facilities with particularly good hunting available via the vwh and the adjoining Cotswold, Heythrop and Duke of Beaufort hounds.
