Sitting in a slightly raised position on Briar Drive which allows views above the neighbouring homes to the distant hills through the largest picture window i’ve ever seen! This home is in ‘move straight in’ condition and offers a wonderful opportunity for a wide variety of potential purchasers. It is in the price range accessible to first time buyers and would make a stunning first home, with room to allow for any expansion to the family. Alternatively, with its easy to maintain grounds and accommodation all on the one level, it would equally suit someone at the other end of their home owning journey needing to downsize. Downsizing is never easy but in this case, the quality and comfort of the home would make it as painless as possible.
A sloping lawn leads up to a bed of established shrubs to the front of the home while a concrete driveway runs alongside, ending at a substantial wooden fence level with the back door. A single step leads onto the raised pathway running the width of the home and giving access to the semi glazed UPVC front door.
This door opens into the inner hallway where immediately in front of us is a door into a large hanging cupboard, perfect for all the outdoor clothing and muddy boots that have no place further into the home.
Another door opens into the comfortable lounge where my attention was immediately seized by the front window. This is notable for its sheer size, stretching not only across virtually the full width of the room but starting only inches from the floor. It is what the term ‘picture window’ was coined for and allows a level of light that is usually reserved for conservatories and makes maximum use of the visibility of the nearby hills. It really is the feature that makes this room as special as it is. But what about when the weather turns wintry and you close the curtains? Well then you are kept snug by the living flame effect electric fire that gives the cosy feeling that only a flickering flame, albeit an artificial one, can achieve. That’s not to say that this fire is a necessity, the home being fully centrally heated renders it more of an eye-catcher but it is undeniably an effective one.
Moving to the rear of the home reveals the master bedroom and this, in what is a compact home comes as a surprise. It is by any standards a big room, easily accommodating a large free standing wardrobe, dressing table, two chairs, two bedside tables and a king sized double bed. All this and a plentiful amount of floor space left over, indicates just how big it is.
Adjacent to here is the second bedroom and again, plentiful space is the order of the day. To find two double bedrooms is a home of this type is unexpected, but there it is. As I mentioned in my introduction this is, in spite of its apparently compact dimensions a family home offering a variety of uses and suitable for young and old.
Next along is the bathroom. A clever sliding door makes the most of the available space in here and the fully tiled walls provide an attractive environment. The suite comprises a pedestal hand basin, lavatory and bath with a mains fed power shower over.
Finally we come to the kitchen/dining room. Very often when I hear that term my heart sinks as in truth, they are frequently nothing of the sort. More often we find an adequately large kitchen which has been ruined by pushing an extra table into one end but here is a room worthy of the name. Providing plentiful units and work tops around three walls with space for a large fridge/freezer and automatic washing machine it is a pleasant and efficient place to work. A small dining table fits neatly beside the units at one end of the room which is notionally divided by the back door.
The door allows us onto the drive as it continues past the previously mentioned fence towards the detached garage. This is fitted with both power and light, allowing further domestic machinery to be installed in here if desired. An outside tap is mounted on the wall beside the door to allow easy tending of however many, or few plants you want to tend. The drive opens out at the rear of the home to reveal the enclosed rear garden, largely grassed over but with a patio area to the side of the garage, providing a pleasant spot for relaxing with a drink at the end of a long day. Or if you are fortunate enough to be retired, for spending the entire day. Because you can.

All in all this is one of those homes that are in constant demand. Bungalows are always highly sought after and with good reason; they are economical to run and maintain and offer a level of convenience hard to replicate in a traditional home. This example is in an excellent location, within walking distance of the town centre and this, with a spacious kitchen / breakfast room, large lounge with a huge picture window, a generous private garden and a detached garage, all of which will make it a very attractive proposition for some lucky person or people….
